Discarded Comfort CBC Press Coverage
So the CBC interviewed me this morning and ran this article. This is all so exciting! It's great to see new fans on the facebook Discarded Comfort page.
Hey Chafic, Good to see you're getting the interest this deserves. I remember when a McDonalds was slated to open in Whistler BC many years ago, there was a condition that the franchisee had to clean up any McDonalds waste and packaging their customers discarded around the resort and municipality. I think Tim's should be held to that same standard.
Aloha, I just was shown this video and I wanted to let you know....I DID THIS EXACT SAME THING 3 YEARS AGO. For a school project we had to make a 3 minute public service announcement video, and I was at the time on a huge coffee cup crusade. I took pictures, took count of how many disposable vs. reusable cups I saw (especially on campus), and did some research on landfills etc. One thing I really promoted in this crusade of mine is to buy a stainless steel cup ONCE for $20, and use it again and again. Your coffee pays for itself very quickly, as most places will give you a discount for bringing your own cup. Let me know if you have access to Windows Movie Maker and I can send you my video...I'm amazed and excited that in our small city someone else with a powerful voice is taking on an issue that has caused me a lot of inner mayhem!!!!!!!
Very cool idea. I expect we'll see thousands of pictures, and I like your choices for perspective.
Funny how people suggest it's the fault of some faceless corporation when individuals litter. Lay the responsibility where it belongs, on the litterer, and we might have fewer lazy and selfish people walking around acting like the rules only apply to them, when it serves what they want.
